BCP Beach Check: Avoid Beach Congestion in UK
BCP Beach Check is an Android application developed by BCP Council to help visitors maintain social distancing while visiting coastal areas in the UK. This free app provides real-time information on the congestion levels of different sections of the beach, which are color-coded as red, amber, or green. At the start of the day, the map presents a prediction for how busy the beach is likely to become based on historical data, CCTV, weather, and footfall counter data. From mid-morning onwards, the color-coded map is updated hourly by the Seafront Ranger team who patrol the beach.
In addition to providing information on beach congestion, the app also provides links to general information on public toilets at the seafront, cycling, dog exercise areas, and BBQ byelaws. Users can view the parking status across BCP and search for places like beaches, parking, toilets, and more. The app covers several areas in the UK, including Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, Havant, Rother, Somerset & West Taunton, Thanet, Torridge, and West Wittering. New areas are added frequently to the app.
